Continual Learning

As discussed in the Why Let Altruistic ABS Help section on the Home Page, continual learning is critical for a services firm to stay current on new technologies and processes, given the rapid advancement driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) in order to remain competitive and stay relevant. Current and future professional employees will be required to follow continual learning protocols, based on their role, that are in place at the time of their employment. Currently, the continual learning protocol includes the following.  CPAs will be required to do both.

CPA Rqmts

The Tennessee State Board of Accountancy requires holders of a Tennessee CPA license are required every 2 years to complete 80 hours of CPE with a minimum of 20 hours each year. In addition, 2 hours of Board-approved state-specific ethics must be earned during every 2-year licensing period.

Of the 80 hours of CPE, at least 40 must be in technical subjects such as:

  • Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Business Law
  • Information Technology
  • Taxes
  • Statistics

Non-Acctg Rqmts

With the increased use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), advances in technology could be exponential, which will be challenging to keep pace. Initially, the following will be implemented:

  • Minimum of 1.5 hours per day devoted to technology and/or business via reading, watching, and/or attending conferences
  • Complete relevant training at least every 6 months and obtain a certificate validating the training from a nationally recognized organization.
